Angela L. Bennett-Shelton
Angela Bennett-Shelton, LMSW is a highly respected mental health professional and very active in her community. Her fourteen (14) year career as a social worker has enabled her to affiliate with various national, private and public sector organizations that promote social justice, empowerment and equality for human beings. Additionally, she has successfully partnered with numerous organizations to effectuate change in behavior and attitudes related to quality of life.
Her mission is to increase the social conscious among Nashville’s diverse communities to identify and address mental health and social issues – unemployment, crime, depression, homelessness, high dropout rate, teen pregnancy, illiteracy and substance abuse invading the local community—RADICAL, Inc., is at the forefront to address these issues and formulate new initiatives, partnerships and models.
Angela stated, “It’s a MOVEment through ACTION and LOVE. If everyone understands that we all bring something to the table —which means once we come together we shall arise to UNITE STRONGER, BETTER & TOGETHER to meet MORE needs and to provide LIFE-LONG SOLUTIONS”.
A native Nashvillian, she is employed as a Certified Social Worker in the Metropolitan Nashville Public School system. She is a graduate of Tennessee State University and the University of Tennessee at Knoxville where she received bachelor and master degrees respectfully in Social Work. She is a member of Living Word Community Church, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority and the Coalition of 100 Black Women.
In addition to her work as a social worker, nonprofit executive and mother, she always finds time to pursue a musical career. A noted musician and songwriter, she wrote and co-produced a CD entitled “Millennium Woman-Empowering Generations” a song that ministered to many women across the nation. Angela is a member of the Dr. Bobby Jones Super Choir and is seen weekly on the BET television show, “Bobby Jones Gospel.” She has shared the stage with many noted gospel and secular artists.
Among her many other credits include serving as a guest for many women conferences, gospel music radio announcer, worked with the Stellar Awards, Bobby Jones International Artist Retreat, several country music videos and movie soundtracks, and the Country Music Awards.
